Bordallo Pinheiro Fish platter 27x14 cm. - 10.62x5.51 in.

Laid across the table, the Bordallo Pinheiro Fish platter turns even the simplest dish into a moment of design. At 27x14 cm, it’s ideal for serving appetizers, sushi, or small desserts, its long, curved shape guiding the eye like a gentle current. The sculpted scales shimmer under the glaze, giving the impression of movement, while its compact size makes it as practical as it is decorative.

Functionality and proportion

Form meets function in this versatile Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro serving plate. It’s suitable for the microwave and dishwasher, though not for oven use or sudden temperature changes. The raised edges prevent spills, while the narrow profile allows it to fit beautifully among larger dishes. Lightweight and stable, it’s a serving essential that adds grace to every course, proof that practicality and charm can share the same table.

Craftsmanship and finish

Each Portuguese hand painted ceramic platter is shaped and finished by artisans who carry forward centuries of craftsmanship. The terracotta base lends warmth and density, while subtle hand-glazed variations bring depth to the green hues. No two pieces are exactly alike: tiny irregularities in texture or color mark the handiwork of the craftsman, transforming each platter into a small, functional artwork.

Design and artistic vision

Created by Raphael Bordallo Pinheiro, the Fish collection blends wit and elegance in equal measure. The artist’s fascination with nature, and especially with marine life, translates into a design that feels timeless yet fresh. Within the broader collectible fish tableware series, this platter captures the essence of his philosophy: humor refined by artistry, the extraordinary found in the everyday. It’s an artistic terracotta dish that embodies both playfulness and sophistication.
